About the Author

Mike Jefferies is a chartered civil engineer. Graduating from King’s (London), an interest in theoretical soil mechanics lead to an MSc from Imperial. He has worked for Golder Associates since 1978, with a ten year absence largely at Gulf Canada. Based in Vancouver and an Associate of the company since 1992, Mike is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester.

Ken Been is a chartered civil engineer. Graduating from University of Cape Town, an interest in experimental soil mechanics and a Rhodes Scholarship lead to a PhD at Oxford. He has worked as a geotechnical consultant for Golder Associates since 1981, becoming a Principal of the company in 1991. He is presently based in Houston.

A bit older than I was hoping.

This play would be hysterically funny and cynical when performed by a community theatre. I, however, was searching for something for my middle school students to perform. Sadly, this was not the play for us. Though I am glad that I read it and have it in my script library, it was not the play I was expecting.

An essential resource for all applied economists.

Judd ties together a vast amount of material--from the most basic to the most advanced--that is essential to anyone doing computational work in economics, econometrics or finance. The book is sufficiently self-contained to serve as the single reference book on computational methods for the average economist. In addition, Judd highlights the origins of most methods and points to strengths, weaknesses, and future theoretical research directions. Economic/finance examples are used throughout the book to make the concepts easy to understand and apply. The only thing keeping this book from being perfect is a complete set of software tools, but given the breadth of the book, this might be too much to ask.

An excellent and useful text

This is the type of book I've been looking for for a long time: It tells you directly what problems are solved by numerical approximation, what methods have been developed for such applications, how to use them, what to watch out for and most importantly, what "tricks" are available to make things easier - this is something you will never pick up in an academic paper and in very few courses.

The structure is very illuminating: simple examples of common problems are followed by generalized versions which are usefull for anyone to apply to their own work. Care is taken to point out the strenghts and weaknesses of various procedures so that the best one can be selected.

As to the critisisms that it does not go deep enough: its not supposed to. It covers in enough detail most (all) of the important methods used by the top economic researchers today, and if the problem you are working on requires more detail than is in the text, precise and extensive references are provided to further understand that particular area.

The book is very theoretical and it is really hard to use it in applied work. The book is very demanding and hard to read. You have to have very rich mathematical background to understand the book. Not for beginners to start. A very little number of useful examples which clarify to understand the theoretical staff.

About the Author
Vojin Raznatovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1983. His family moved to Athens, Greece when he was ten years old. He graduated from High School in 2001, where he was a class president. He completed his B.A. in History from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where he was a Dean’s List student. He holds a great passion for acting, singing, boxing and surfing. His next novel, The Serbian Dream, is due in late 2014. He lives in California.

I bought it just for the sake of reading a biography, but became so intrigued I had to finish the whole book within 2 hours!

Kudos to the author! A great insight on one of the darkest figures of the Yugoslav wars. It was quite interesting reading about the intimate life of this notorious warlord (no need mention here just how feared he was across the Balkans), yet we discover the other side of his persona that was never present in the media. The book is quite of a page turner, I could not put it down until i read the whole thing. I am surprised they still haven't made a feature film about Arkan.
I must confess I have quite a few questions that had risen in my mind upon completing this new read. Needless to say, I highly recommend it to anyone who followed the course of the Yugoslav wars or the recent Balkan history.

Good read check it out

I found this book very interesting. It is not a biography but rather a series of short chapters consisting of stories told by Zeljko Raznatovic or associates to his son or father son moments over the course of a boy's adolescence. The book is far cry from the typical English language accounts of who Arkan was. Most of these stories relate to family in some way. That being said, the book has a fascinating account of the events leading up to the infamous Red Star Dinamo riot. This story alone warrants the purchase of the book. I felt that it was a fast and informative read and suggest it to anyone interested in Serbian military history.

I enjoyed reading this book. It is very easy to follow the author. I strongly recommend it. This is an historic event from a point of view of a relative which make this book interesting and emotional.

Such a sweet story

I loved this story! Great plot concept with very likeable characters. I was having so much fun with the story I hated to see it end! I was laughing at some of Whitney's antics and Tyler was just what she needed to get her life on track. So romantic that they found each other after so many years apart. I hope there will be a follow up book!! I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy from Stormy Night Publications.

I love how they reunited and she realized that her whole life would have been better if she was with him all along. Would love a sequel digging deeper into their relationship. Maybe meeting her grandparents or finding out his parents also practice dd. fantastic!

The characters turn out to be pretty shallow. I didn't really care about them or their problems. The ages they were supposed to be makes one think they would be more mature in their thinking. The author should have made them

You'll also learn that the most important thing to do with your library book is... READ IT!

Why I liked this book - This is a hilarious book! The illustrations are even funny! I like how they look like they were cut from paper. PLUS the book has a great message, take care of your books! I like the V.O.G.s listed in the book and what the L.S.S. agents say/do!

A great library pick. My second and third grade student really responded well to this book. This is a fun way to talk about book care once student s have graduated from Mr. Wiggle and Penelope Popper. Its a good refresher to use near Halloween as well, fun and lighthearted.
