Loved it

What a great read, I really enjoyed the way it was written I stayed up late into the night because I couldn't put it down. I really felt connected with the characters, I guess the biggest impression it made on me is that no matter what cards your dealt with in life, there is always hope and faith. Two girls from different, and I mean different backgrounds, by chance meet and.....well, I think it's best you read for yourself. I really hope there is a continuation of this story, I enjoyed Dutch and Shyla's journey but it's far from over.

This was a fun and emotional read. The building relationship between two friends that grows beyond friendship. The book flowed very well and definitely drew me into the world of these girls. I was unfortunately left wanting more. It just ended...

A long, slow disappointment

There were things that I really did like about this novel, specifically the non-rushed and genuine affection that seemed to build between the two primary characters. Unfortunately, besides a number of editorial mistakes, the book just drags on and on, with Shy and Dutch seemingly doing pretty much the same stuff over and over. About a third of the book could have been trimmed out without losing any of the important bits. And then the end comes and . . . well, it just ends. You get to the inevitable conflict that everyone knew was coming, and there's no real resolution to it. There's a hint that there will be some kind of resolution (even if it's not a happy one), but then the book just kind of ends with what could be most generously referred to as a half-hearted epilogue, and then cue the end credits. And that's it. You have very little idea of what happens to Dutch, and none whatsoever of what happens with Shy. I'm seriously confused as to what the author was trying to accomplish with this story but unless causing confusion was it, I would have to say that it just didn't work.

I had the great honor to receive an early copy of Stan's Waltham ...

I had the great honor to receive an early copy of Stan's Waltham Trench Watches of the Great War.
Following hard on the heals of his first outstanding book "Elgin Trench Watches of the Great War" this 2nd book had a lot to live up to.

But for certain I was not disappointed, Stan once again has done exceptional research. This Waltham book will go down as the "revelation" on Depollier. Many "myths and speculation" are finally put to rest. And if that is not exciting enough, Czubernat has uncovered and printed in full the small booklet written by Charles L. Depollier in 1917 called “The Story of The Watch in the Trenches”. Chapters 4, 5, 8 and 12 also brought a wealth of new research and information. It is an “awesome” read, packed full of newly researched discoveries – just as a new book on horology should.

This is a serious book for any Horologist or collector of early vintage watches, the photos are also of the highest quality

I highly recommend the purchase of this book and of course the Elgin book, no information is duplicated, both books are recommended in their own right,

Stan the trench watch man.

Received my copy before Christmas as advertised, fast shipping. I read his first book about elgin trench watches earlier this year and I was very impressed. I heard that he was writing a second book about trench watches several months ago and I did not think he would be able to top his first book. Boy, was I wrong. His second book is even better than his first. How he was able to find all of these newly discovered trench watch models is beyond me, so many different case and dial styles are listed. The pictures and descriptions for each watch are top shelf. I have a few of the waltham trench watch models discussed in this book, I learned so much about my own collection that I never knew before. The amount of overall detail that he put into this book is outstanding. He makes the data very easy to understand. I now know which waltham trench watches I want to add to my collection. Stan the trench watch man.

I was lucky enough to read his first book: Elgin Trench Watches of the Great War, and I wouldn't miss his second. If you are a hard-core watch collector, a Military buff or just getting into collecting watches and need a place to find information; Stan's books are a Great place to get the knowledge you need to build a valuable & enjoyable collection. His style of writing makes it easy to understand and that there many details to consider when collecting. Knowledge based, not just facts & figures but, tons of beautiful color pictures with essential details that gives any reader the confidence to buy, sell and trade with confidence. No Military collection would be complete without BOTH of Stan's Books. Smartly organized and historically accurate information, they are fast becoming the "GO-TO" reference books on WW1 Trench Watches.

Great for Lion Guard fans

I originally bought this just for the figures. We are doing a Lion Guard theme for my son's 3rd birthday and this was the only set I have found with more hyenas than just Janja. It also has Kion's sister, Kiara, which we didn't have either. There are 12 figures. The figures are a good size for coming with a book and are painted well. It does come with a paper playmat which I don't anticipate lasting us long because my toddler is already stomping all over it. But for now he loves setting everything up on the different scenes. I have heard him yelling "Oh no, there are hyenas in the pride lands!" so it is encouraging pretend play. The book itself is cute and introduces a lot of the characters and back story from the movie and show. Definitely a great purchase if you have a Lion Guard fan!

Great for a Restaurant Survival Kit

This was great for my son's restaurant survival bag. The book itself isn't that great, but the small figures are perfect for a restaurant table. And a set of figures this complete is hard to find anywhere else for this price. Why don't any other sets include the hyenas? This one does!!!!

I have never seen a computer book like this before

So many programming books are dry as the paper they are printed on. Most courses in programming are equally dry. With this book the dry spell is over. Each chapter covers an interesting subject quickly and well. Yet the subjects covered are shockingly advanced. Genetic algorithms, neural networks, etc. Wow. These are topics that are usually each covered by at least one book for each topic. The mathematical explanations are the some of the simplest I have seen, ever.

I have been programming for over 20 years and thus have read so many computer books that were serious chores to read so, again, I can't quite express just how different this book is. It is like the book was written and the all the confusing bits were boiled away leaving this final product. I am truely at a loss for how to describe the virtues of this book without sounding like a marketing sound bite so I will say what it isn't. It isn't pedantic, academic, confusing, or contorted. The examples in the book are interesting or maybe even better described as cool. Often in CS books the examples are often uninteresting and thus unmemorable.

This book reminds me of a the opening of a great book on calculus called Calculus Made Easy by Silvanus P. Thompson where he basically says that most mathematicians write their texts to impress and show off how very clever they are but that he thought any fool could learn calulus so he removed the pedantry and made a great book.

I took the Nature of Code class as a master candidate at NYU ITP back in the Spring of 2012 with Dan Shiffman. Went through pretty much all of the material in this book as it iteratively evolved. This final product is amazing. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in motion/physics/programmable art/games/etc. Dan is a great teacher, and this book is definitively reflective of his ability to communicate the concepts behind the Processing language in a simple and intuitive manner ... with a good bit of personality mixed in as well. There are wonderful illustrations and tons of supplementary materials online to make this book even better. It is also pink ... and that is awesome. Overall, you really can't go wrong with this book and it should be on the bookshelf of artists/designers/and coders of all kinds!

The Nature of Code addresses coding nature simulations in the Processing language. It covers real-world physics, using physics libraries (such as JBox2D), cellular automata, flocking and following behavior, and neural networking. While some of these subjects are daunting, Shiffman writes clearly, explains fundamental concepts, and leads the reader through each subject with code snippets and complete sketches. There are also specific chapter challenges and an overall, book-long coding challenge for the reader. This is not a beginner's book (see "Learning Processing" for that), but a book that coders with some experience in Processing can use with ease and profit.

Processing is not the ideal platform for game programming, but the first four chapters of this book present a solid physics background useful in any programming language, while the chapter on Physics libraries explains how to use physics engines, such as JBox2D, that were used in creation of famous apps like "Angry Birds". It would be of great use to aspiring games coders. The cellular automata and animal behavior chapters likewise would be of great use to coders working in robotics.

This book would be a perfect text for a high-school level physics class, as students could quickly learn and apply principles of gravitational attraction, force application, and Newtonian physics to their own computer simulations. The processing language used is available at no cost, and the book's accompanying code examples are well documented and useful. Not all the exercises set for the reader are solved, but enough examples are provided to encourage the reader to explore further.

Each of the seven Processing books I own (disclosure: I have only purchased the early PDF version of "The Nature of Code" ) have a different perspective and, ultimately, target a different audience. The Nature of Code, with its focus on real world physics, provides a solid base for both novice and more experienced coders. It's well written, useful, and a valuable addition to the growing body of Processing references.

I absolutely love the Men of Whiskey Row!!

Darby is my favorite, favorite but I love them all. Holt with his quiet alpha way. Casey is the naughty boy wrapped in a very neat and tidy package. Jack is still as dominant as ever, even after getting the girl. And Guy and Alexei have problems I can't wait to see unfold. I love the way this author lumps everybody in the story without it being overwhelming. For a novella, this was jam packed with sexy couples feeling their way around each other. I loved Casey and Sidra's story, trying things his way might be exactly what they both need. And just when Darby was getting to know Ms. Avery better Boom, bomb explosion! I can't wait to read the next installment in this series and whatever else she has coming out. A few more errors in this book but nothing that made me want to stop reading. Another fantastic trip to Whiskey Row.

Positive feedback: For a book with so many moving plots and subjects the characters are vivid, distinguishable and likable. Unlike the first book (excellent!) I don't feel like this book had a main character or couple and I am rooting for the whole gang.

I should deduct a star because this book seems more like a set up for upcoming books, nothing is really settled. Although I am glad to know more is coming why are you making me wait until Book Four for Sidra and Casey's story!! And what about Lex and ViVi? (they better have a happy ending!)

You got me hooked, can't wait to read more.

Omg-love this book! D A Young has done it again! Those Sullivan brothers are back romancing our hearts to end! This book adds great enhancements to the character development of all the storylines in this ongoing series. It has plenty of love and romance while addressing hard-core issues like domestic violence, racism and feministic self-esteem. It is a REALLY good set up book...you'll be hooked and ready for more! Keep up the good work-DA! Take me to Whiskey Row again and again!

Lacks Coherence & Flow

This is the very first time I'm leaving a two-star rating for a book I purchased / read. (I purchased a hard copy from a local bookstore). I give it a low rating for a simple reason - a total lack of coherence and flow. This book seeks to build on the pattern established by 'The Secret', where disparate quotations from varied sources were presented, with brief explanatory bits in between. It worked in 'The Secret', mainly because there was a clear focus that ran through everything like a string thread holding it all together. But here it's a jumbled mess!

Also, this book seems to put the emphasis on hardwork, determination, etc and jeers at an easy, relaxed, predominantly mind-based approach, which is what was highlighted in, you guessed it, Rhonda's own 'The Secret' and subsequently in her 'The Power'. Why this contradiction, Rhonda?

I was disappointed

I loved The Secret so much that I can't wait to read any new work by Rhonda. This book, however, fell flat with me....I really felt like it was more of a copy and paste effort than any true thoughts and wisdom of the author. If you want a book of great quotes, this is it, but I would have preferred much more input from the author.

enjoyable

I rather enjoyed this book. I did think that the way Theos treated Finnvid was COMPLETELY unbelievable for a man raised with normalised slavery. But once I deliberately forced myself to suspend that particular disbelief, I could roll with most the punches and enjoy myself.

I thought Theos was adorable—not dim, exactly, but not a man who thinks deeply either. I wasn't as enamoured with Finnvid. I thought him a bit inconsistent. But as a counterbalance to Theos, he worked.

Unfortunately, the whole idea of what is 'natural' or 'unnatural' was over-emphasised and heavy handed. Yes, I understood the message, but didn't need it reiterated quite so often. Similarly, I think the men lost the ability to verbalise anything but "I love you" in the last ten or so pages. It got redundant.

Speaking of endings (and this may be spoilerish), forcing the two men to desire monogamy felt like an artificial machination to provide the proper type of HEA to a Western audience. It didn't at all fit the culture as established by the author. What's more, thinking past the last page, it would undoubtably cause future discord and I have trouble believing Finnvid would even request it of Theos (considering the social importance of sex between male Torians). I thought it was a cop out.

So, I had a few complaints, but for the most part, the writing was readable, there was some humour, I like the characters, it was an interesting world (at least the Torian culture was, Elkat was just a hollow reproduction of the recognisable), I don't remember any editing issues and I enjoyed the time I spent with the book. It was just plain cute. I really can't ask for much more than that.

Kate Sherwood doing fantasy is double the pleasure for me personally. I found the world building to be vivid without being overly wordy. There aren’t pages and pages on info dumps.You just kind of settle in slowly and see things as they come. Which helped me relate to how Finnvid must have felt experiencing the Torians for the first time. Rumors are one thing. Reality is another. The Torians certainly have a barbaric savage reputation. I can imagine how it must look to the outsiders looking in. I enjoyed how you eventually realize the men are the ones who have the least options of the Torians. The woman do whatever they want while the men are only allowed to join the army and procreate. The women in other countries do not have the freedoms and aren’t held to the status woman in the Torian villages are. Torian woman are revered. I also found the non traditional family life of the Torians to be pretty interesting. They’re open and practical about sex and survival. This seemed to be the biggest shocker to Finnvid and the Elkati.

The dialogue had me laughing one minute and the danger the MCs find themselves in kept me on edge. Definitely some nail biting moments. Both Finnvid and Theos are pawns in a political game for power. Just on very different sides of it. You don’t know what is the truth and who is on their side. The intrigue and it’s effect on Theos were pretty fascinating. Theos is fiercely loyal to the Torians. He’s good at his purpose which until he meets Finnvid is fighting, making future solders and serving his people. Theos is a Sacrati. Sacrati are a special group within the Torian army. They’re elite warriors known for their dominance in battle. I love a tough and non apologetic brute with a kind side. Theo is a good mix of hard and soft. Alpha male for sure. As good of a guy as a soldier who has conquered many lands and killed many men can be.

While the tone of this book is pretty serious, the banter and interactions between characters kept it from getting too dark. The writing was excellent. The beginning is a bit slow but stick with it. Like I said earlier, it’s just setting you up for what’s to come. I really enjoyed the couple. Total opposites. Finnvid had an attraction to men but in his homeland it was forbidden. So he never acted on it until he finally gave into his desire for Theos. Theos had a very strong attraction to Finnvid. He didn’t want to given Finnvid was his prisoner and he had no shortage of willing partners. I really enjoyed their transition from enemies to lovers. It wasn’t easy and there was some pain and loss along the way but it was worth it in the end. I highly recommend this book if you like political intrigue, good guys vs the bad guys, or just enjoy books about strong warriors. Excellent book!

I wished the book continued on. I would love a second one to hear about Theos and Finnvid life together. There were so many twists and turns and unspoken truths that I wondered if the two would ever trust each other in the end. It's a book of action, grief, and budding romance and I would recommend it to anyone.

Hello people! Novice tutors or keyboard masters, read this walkthrough and you will find out how to build a qualitative course on Udemy, avoiding any frustration regarding the process and finding out how can you market your work. Cristi did a great job on explaining the "thick and thin" involved in writing and making an Udemy course from scratch. Another nice thing is that Cristi answered my extra questions regarding the topic. I didn't buy a guide, I bought a full user experience!

The Perfect Partner to the Science of Mind Text

This is a great book. It is a lot less technical than the Science of Mind textbook. It is comprised of several essays that are all written in a very "down-to-earth" style and each essay can probably be read in about 10-15 minutes. Now, just because you read the essay, don't think for a minute that now you know what Ernest Holmes is talking about because it will take you the rest of this life to apply his incredible ideas and magnificent insights. I'm sorry to disillusion you about the spiritual path.
The Spiritual path is not a path of words; it is a path of dedicated application and every day presents its opportunities as well as challenges and that is a very good thing.

I believe that the Living Spirit of God is everywhere present; that everything I see in the world of form is a creation of the Divine. Now I can say this with relative ease and for the most part I really do feel with all my heart that this is True and in my times of prayer and meditation I really KNOW that this is True and then I blow out the candles, roll up the meditation mat and go out into the world of effect and BAM! Before you know it I am bombarded with the world...

Oh, crap...you mean I have to live this spirituality stuff out?

All the sudden I am presented with the challenge/the opportunity to live out my ideals or give in to what is right in front of me. Do I judge righteously...in other words use my mind in the "right" way and see behind the appearances or do I allow myself to get sucked up in the world of effect. Bare in mind(and heart) that nothing upset God...Heaven is still very present within me but am I willing to rise up in consciousness or am I going to descend into the depths of hell? Hell is any situation where we feel separated from Spirit.

Living out your Spiritual Truth is the name of the game. Books, tapes, lectures, classwork, that's all supplemental, but the test is everyday living. Like that old zen saying, "Before enlightenment chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water." I'm not saying that I am completely enlightened by any stretch, but I am saying that now that I have been exposed to Spiritual Truths now I have the glorious opportunity to practice them. I can no longer stick my head in the sand and "pretend" that I don't know because now on a certain level of things, I do.

This book will help you apply your Spirituality in wonderful and beautiful ways. My advice to you would be to take a particular essay and just work with that one essay for a few days or even a week. Underline things that you reasonate with, journal about those ideas, ask yourself how can you apply this in your every day life and then watch your world transform into something new and beautiful. Remember, the Light of God is always present but by purifying our minds, our hearts, and our souls we are coming into a deeper understanding that it is and it has always been and it will always be right where we are.

BTW: At one point we considered using DRAWINGS instead of real life models as a cost saving measure, but found it was difficult to convey the nuances of safe, effective body movement and positioning.
